The Polytechnic(Diploma) has been started with Three disciplines namely Electronics & Computer Engineering & Electrical Engineering & Engineering with the intake of 40 students in each trade from session 2011-12 and diploma in Mechanical Engineering with intake 30 students from 2019-20 as constituent college of HP Technical Board (Dharamshala).The Government of Himachal Pradesh has notified to establish Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Institute of Engineering & Technology Pragatinagar. The foundation stone of the Institute was laid by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh on 10th April 2011 and classes of the first batch was started in August 2011. This Institution is located at Pragatinagar on the bank of river Giri Ganga about 61 km from Shimla on Shimla Rohru National Highway. On the other bank of the river Cricket Stadium is situated. The campus is spread over 123.4 Bighas of lush green land & surrounded by beautiful green Apple Valley. The environment is most suitable for teaching, learning process.
